Dear Neighbors Home Care,
It is most difficult to find the words to
express my gratitude for all that you have
done over the past years for my brother, John.
When John came out of
the hospital in 2006 and needed follow-up care, we chose the agency not
sure how we would adjust to someone coming into our home on a regular
basis. Since then our friends at neighbors Home Care have all become
part of our extended family. I was the sole caregiver for John, and
home care made everything so much easier for me because I lived and
worked an hour away. No matter what the need, they were there with the
solution in a calm and patient way. I was especially greatful to Fay
for her guidance and support, in particular during John's recent
illness.
I would like to thank all of John's aides and especially
our dear friend, Belkis, for her daily care and companionship for John.
He considered her not only an aide, but also a dear friend who cooked
so well for him and made him laugh. John looked forward to her visits,
especially during the last few months.
Mother Teresa once said, "We
are not called to do great things, but do small things with great
love." How true of Neighbors Home Care.
Sincerely,
Sister Rose O'Rourke, O.P.

Barbara Gurman Poet and a previous patient of Neighbors Home Care published her collection of poems "Purple Imaginings" in 2006. She thanked our aides and our office in the introduction to her book and wrote a poem about aides.
"Thank you Marvia Nelson, Champa Gangaram, Anita Ramgadoo and all the terrific aides that have kept my mind and body nourished, and thank you Neighbors Home care for providing them all. Than you Independence Care System for really caring. Thank you everyone, who knowingly or unknowingly did something to lift my spritis."
AN ODE TO AIDES
Always there heat waves or cold spells blackouts or brownouts;
rain, sleet or snow umbrellas, boot, hats thermals and all;
shopping, doing laundry, cooking, cleaning, bathing, dressing, transferring;
always giving with patience, kindness and compassion.
